  16. - About ten years ago a nephew had a BBC I used to screw up. Then some
  17.   friends got C64s- and when the PC began to appear on the market, my
  18.   father bought one...

  20.  How long have you been active in the scene?

  22. - With the C64 I joined some Dutch demogroups, about 8 jears ago...

  24.  How did you came into the virus business?

  26. - Some years ago the media started to hype about the New Danger- I was
  27.   able to find a copy of Brain and Burger, debugged them to death
  28.   (no sources...) and made a simple direct-action .com infector (never
  29.   released, probably wiped out with one of my zillion hd-crashes).

  31.  What part(s) of the underground do you think needs improvements?

  33. - The destructive part. I still can't figure why people smart enough
  34.   to make a nice virus are unable to see that they harm both foes and
  35.   friends with this... also, part of the underground still parties a
  36.   lot, but doesn't do anything against the continuing decrease of their
  37.   rights (Encryption ban/Clipper chip, war on drugs etc...)

  39.  Positive/negative aspects of the scene?

  41. - Positive: The good tie between the groups, and the open distribution
  42.   of knowledge.
  43.   Negative: The quantity-above-quality attitude some still seem to
  44.   have. Please, amaze the scene by something inventive instead of yet
  45.   another boring dirct-action-.COM-infector!

  49. - Yes, many, though this is the only specific virusgroup.

  82. - I wrote a hypertext Hitchhiker's Guide to Viruses, and stopped at
  83.   90%. When I've got time, I'll finish it. Someday ;-)

  89.   quite some time...

  101. - I haven't released that many; Little Mess, Horns of Jericho, Weirdo
  102.   and Cheeba were the only ones I believe- I rarely release my creations...
  103.   I mostly write programs showing a specific hole in the system
  104.   protection, I rarely build an entire virus around it...

  106.  Which one was the hardest to write?

  108. - I really can't tell; I always write one because I want to try
  109.   something new- this always took some time... Cheeba was my first
  110.   EXE-infector; Little Mess spreads itself through Telix Salt-scripts,
  111.   I had to figure that format- and Horns of Jericho ate its way through
  112.   TB-Scan's .AVR files (if you can still remember TB using them...)- I
  113.   had to figure out that format as well...

  115.  Do you have any sort of company or law-enforcement who are trying to
  116.  hunt Trident down?

  118. - Yes, the section Computercriminality of the CRI...

  122. - Neither; they mainly hunt authors of viruses that cause direct damage...

  139. - I do not spread my viruses; if I make one, I publish it in a mag...

  145.   Onderwater, the chief of the CRI on the hacktic.virus forum about
  146.   this; he told he told he would give his view on this, but hasn't done
  147.   this yet...

  149.  What do you think about newspapers describing the scene as nerds?

  152.   for one single day?! I couldn't care less about those believing every-
  153.  thing written in the newspapers...

  161. - Yes; does this really need an explaination? I always try to make my
  162.   viruses as compatible as possible, and surely don't make destructive
  163.   ones. Sheesh, it is *way* more difficult to make something really non-
  164.   destructive...

  167.  years ago (concerning the underground part ofcause)?

  169. - Yes, the scene seems to be more focused on personal freedom (Clipper
  170.   chip, Drug laws etc...)

  184. - Bulgaria isn't that active anymore- The US is pretty active, but
  185.   considering the size of the Netherlands, I think our country is
  186.   pretty good as well...

  228. - F-Prot. It's reliable, has very a detailed virus name library and is
  229.   free for individual use...

  233. - I think the underground will become even more aimed against the
  234.   governmental attempts to limit personal freedom (Clipper chip, net
  235.   control, drug laws etc.)

  237.  Do you know/heard of any new technics coming in the near future?

  239. - I'm pretty sure the PowerPC will give virus authors a wide scala of
  240.   new possibilities...

  242.  Any advice to people who want to learn the basic of virus-writing?

  244. - Try to figure most things out yourself- otherwise you'll force
  245.   yourself into the same methods and problems the original author
  246.   had, and are later on way less likely to come up with something
  247.   new because you're stuck with the standard techniques...
